A car that has been designed without compromise to become the best performing two-wheel drive car in its category.

A year has passed since the first dynamic presentation of the Clio Rally5. It was the Ciry-Chatillon and Dieppe teams who had introduced it. And here is now the Clio Rally 4 version.

Obviously, to develop a rally car made and adapted to the world of the traditional road, there is a great deal of work behind it. Also thanks to the versions made in 2019, which made it possible to produce something formidable.

All this while remaining in the world of two-wheel drive, thus escaping from an idea of four-wheel drive that is very often associated with performing cars and winks at the world of rallying.

Clio Rally 4 obviously has a solid base, namely the one built on the Clio Rs . Of course, additional devices have been installed that comply with the latest racing standards. Think for example of the Sabelt bucket seats, the ad hoc fuel tank, the pedals and the steering column.

Building on what has been achieved in the past, Rally 4 inherits everything Renault knows in the world of rallying.

Under the hood we can find an engine made with a 4-cylinder TCE 16 valve structure and a volume of 1330 cubic cm . The turbo has been extensively revised, using new pistons and new connecting rods. The transmission is the same, while the engine group has been studied by increasing the horsepower level with a power that now stands at 215 horsepower.

And to stop this fireball? PFC brakes racing brakes and advanced BOS suspensions adjustable shock absorbers.

To test this car, 5,000 km were driven with highly experienced professional drivers such as Stefan Sarasin, Bryan Bouffier, Jean-Sebastien Vigion and Manu Guigou.

The Clio rally 4 will clearly start this year with a fiery race like the Monte Carlo Rally. The new model will be entrusted to Bernardi, vice champion of France for two-wheel drive vehicles, and to his co-driver Victor Bellotto.

For all lovers of technical data, the frame is a welded steel monocoque with rollbar and mcpherson suspension, with the H-arm rear axle . The engine cooling instead is a standard derivative with a direct power supply and a maximum engine speed 6500 rpm engine. The fuel used is a commercial SP98 instead.

The brakes, as we have mentioned, are particular and precisely the asphalt front brakes have a measurement of 330 mm x 28 mm, while the front ground brakes have a measurement of 294 mm x 28 mm. The rear ones instead have 260 mm x 8 mm discs, with the clearly hydraulic handbrake. The wheels are Michelin with a measure of 6 x 15 from the ground and 7 x 17 from asphalt.

The overall description concludes with a transmission that is characterized by a Sachs clutch , a limited slip differential of the zf type and a selector on the floor with electronic Mar release. The transmission is Sadev 5-speed plus reverse. And now good gas everyone!
