Very often we talk about new cars and previews. Today we want to talk to you about the historic cars that are able to fit into a historic car register.

We are all passionate about cars and can't wait to see with our own eyes the new cars that car manufacturers produce. However, it must be considered that the current Automotive market is the son or grandson of numerous cars that have made the history of this sector.

Just think, for example, of the very first Fiat 500s or the Fiat Topolino , which characterized the post-war automotive market in Italy for years. All of these cars are truly state-of-the-art engineering products for the time they were produced. For this reason there is a sort of car club that protects all cars that are at least a certain number of years.

All cars that have been registered for at least 20 years can in fact enjoy some tax advantages in the first instance, but also some advantages in terms of insurance.

In fact, we are talking about the Historical Automotoclub of Italy which allows you to manage all the so-called historical cars in order to protect and enhance them. The acronym is the so-called ASI.

If we have a fairly old car and want to join this club , thus obtaining the certificate that defines our car as “beautiful despite its age”, what should we do.

To register your car with ASI, we must necessarily go through an ASI federated club that we can find within our territory. Once we have gone to one of these locations, we must bring with us:

  • a copy of the owner's identification document;
  • copy of the vehicle ownership certificate;
  • a copy of the vehicle registration document;
  • and obviously the photographs of the car

In particular, we ask:

  • a front photo;
  • photo of the rear;
  • a photo of the side profiles;
  • interior photos;
  • a photograph of the engine where you can see the chassis number.

In the event that our application for registration is accepted, we will therefore be technically registered with the ASI. We will receive the Certificate of Historical Relevance and the vehicle registration certificate.

In this way we will be able to benefit from the exemption of the stamp duty for historic cars (over 30 years) or the 50% reduction for cars that are between 20 and 30 years old. Furthermore, we remind you that having these documents can be an advantage to have a reduction in the annual insurance premium that insurance companies recognize in many cases.

Having a car registered with ASI costs on average about fifty euros per year, plus any costs for registering with the specific Club we want to support.

Obviously, however, having an antique car is something very prestigious and also allows you to have additional advantages. Apart from the mere daily discounts, which we can get with our car, what we want to say is that having a car registered with ASI is something really exciting for every single aspect.
