The decline in the automotive market is truly worrying. Compared to June 2019, the market fell by 13.3%

The data relating to the performance of the Automotive market have just come out thanks to UNRAE.

Also in June, the Italian car market highlighted a by now worrying criticality. In fact, if in 2019 the data were all in all good, now they are definitely worrying.

The Automotive market experienced a crisis and a decrease of 13.3% compared to June 2019.

The reasons are different and are mainly related to the incentives that have ended up in the most popular range. We are talking about the 61-135 grams per kilometer range.

This is the main reason why people no longer buy cars.

Numbers in hand, 149 thousand registrations were registered in June compared to 172 thousand in June 2019 and what concerns the rebound compared to June 2020, the increase is equal to 12%.

However, if we analyze the first six months of 2019, and compare them with the first six months of 2021, we note that this year we have registered 200,000 cars.

Looking closely, we see that long-term rental is the only aspect that has seen an increase compared to 2019.

As for the short-term rental, we have a decrease of as much as 28%.

This means how people are willing to buy a car but without having it with an excessive constraint to a single model for many years. So with a car through long-term rental, it is possible to have the availability of the car without necessarily having to be forced to purchase the car in its entirety.

In terms of power supply, hybrids have increased significantly, but also electrics and plug-ins.

hybrids are currently at 27.4% of June sales. The GPL and methane also grew at 8 and 2% respectively. On the other hand, diesel and benzina are falling, respectively, at 22 and 30%.

The market also sees a stabilization of the different types of cars with a slight increase as regards the small cars.

The SUVs are slightly contracted, but remain well on balance for the throne at 45%.

The second-hand market is not doing very well and it also falls with a decrease of 6% compared to 2 years ago.

Here is how the automotive data are quite worrying because they show that Italy is currently in a stalemate with regard to the purchase of cars.

We must consider that June is a really important and also a strategic month for the decision to buy a car. In fact, June and December are the hottest months for registrations as June is linked to the use of the car in the summer.

We must therefore wait and hope for the return of incentives as regards the most interesting bands, namely those from 61 to 135 grams per kilometer.

People have now understood how the state intends to incentivize the purchase of cars, but they are waiting for the best offer for the car of their dreams.
