2022 begins with good news for all those who travel often thanks to the motorways.

Every year a series of news arrives about the increases of the various activities and services. Fortunately, the Automotive sector records interesting news for all those who use the highways.

From what has been learned, no increases are expected at the beginning of the year except for a small section between Piacenza and Brescia where an increase of around 5% is recorded. All this is also thanks to an agreement that the Government together with the Autostrade managing body has managed to record in recent times.

Obviously this agreement is an annual agreement and therefore the speech will be repeated every year with a frequency linked to the month of January.

In fact, the Ministry of Infrastructure announces that tariffs are confirmed on 98% of the motorway network. The updating and revision of the concession relationship in fact kept the cost of motorways constant over the course of the new year.

For the motorway sections where the agreement has expired there will be no increases. The only change, however, is the section of the A21 Piacenza-Brescia motorway where the increase is equal to 5.4%.

According to some rumors, there could be increases in the coming months for the Milan-Genoa A7 motorway sections and on the ring roads around the Milanese capital.

All these increases could derive from a decision that will be taken by the company Serravalle-Milano Spa which should not renew the suspension of the tariff adjustment recognized with the inter-ministerial decree of 31 December 2018.

We all know that highways are important for moving easily outside cities.

In various situations, there was also talk of a single tax on motorways which made it possible to cover the entire Italian territory.

According to this philosophy, in fact, it would lead to a better management of the economic framework of the motorways and also an easier use of the system.

There would no longer be queues at the exit toll booths and this would also allow greater speed in using the system.

For a whole series of more or less known reasons, still in Italy we are far from having a single vignette for the general projection of the motorway service.

Like many other European countries, payment is still being demanded for the motorway section that the subject travels.

We will therefore see if there will be any increases in some motorway sections that we have highlighted and if the Government decides to change the payment policy of the motorways with a general vignette for the whole Italian territory.
