The Scandinavian house has decided to present the first fully electric car of the new generation. An SUV with a decidedly Coupé line. Let's find out together.

Finally, Volvo has completely entered the world of sustainable mobility and zero-emission cars. The first completely electric car born from scratch has finally been presented. We are talking about the new Volvo # C40 Recharge.

Presented in style on the Volvo website, it is the latest manifestation of the Scandinavian automotive cause's commitment to a more sustainable world.

Volvo wanted to ride the fashion of recent years or the SUV segment, declining it with a typically sporty Coupé line . In this way, it is not only the aesthetic line that benefits, but also the performance in terms of autonomy and lower consumption.

A sleek line is certainly a line that will pay off in terms of the autonomy of the electric car as it will have a lower consumption produced by a lower resistance to air.

The new C40 Recharge is not simply an exercise in style, it is the beginning of a momentous transition that Volvo wants to develop in the coming years.

The next 360 ° production phases have already been defined for the Scandinavian brand. By 2025, or within four years, the Swedish company predicts that 50% of all cars sold in the world will be fully electric. The remaining 50% will be hybrid cars. To have a complete tradition of all electric cars, the Volvo brand would have to wait until 2030. For 9 years, therefore, Volvo plans to sell only electric cars.

This aspect is at least strong to read, but surely the Scandinavian house will have carried out a precise analysis of a whole series of factors. It is certainly a risky choice also in relation to the fact that it is one of the very few large-scale car manufacturers, which wants to develop a complete transition by 2030.

In fact, there are other car manufacturers that want to convert completely by that date, but we are talking about small car manufacturers or in any case with a limited number of cars produced. The big houses like BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes, are taking the issue of sustainable mobility very seriously, but they are certainly spreading this revolution with a longer time frame.

As for the aesthetic line, the new Volvo C40 Recharge is reminiscent in a certain respect of the small car from Volvo, the XC40. The front is in fact quite similar, even if the rear part is completely overturned.

In fact, looking from the rear three quarters, you immediately notice how this new car aims to be a sports coupe suitable for even a young and sporty-loving public.

Speaking of an electric car, we can only speak clearly about propulsion and electric motors. This car features two electric motors, one positioned on the front axle and one positioned on the rear axle. The expected battery is 78 kWh which can be recharged quickly in about 40 minutes to have an autonomy of 80%. If the battery was fully charged, we could travel about 420 km, obviously also depending on the route, traffic and speed.

This car will go into production by autumn and will be built in Europe at Volvo's Belgium plant. See you on YouDriver.com to find out more details of the first completely electric vehicle from scratch in the Volvo brand in the coming months.
