The new Jeep Wrangler finally arrives with performance never seen before.
The presentations of the new cars and the restyling of existing ones begin in September.
News from just a few hours ago is the presentation of the new Jeep Wrangler within a context of a total renewal in terms of performance. New active safety features, but also a 12-inch touch screen.
Probably the most famous off-road vehicle in the world arrives in its new guise, equipped with a technically advanced engine and with truly exceptional dynamic capacity for on-road and off-road driving.
The 2024 model brings with it new levels of technology, thanks in part to the first full-float Dana rear axle.
The success of the car clearly cannot be argued, as almost 5 million Wranglers have been sold worldwide since it was introduced on the market.
This new version is intended as a thank you to all those who have loved the brand over the years, given that the car has not been completely changed. Being a reference model, Jeep did not want to excessively modify the founding identity of this car.
In Europe it will be available in Sahara and Rubicon versions, and the first cars will be on the road in the first half of the new year.
The new Wrangler will clearly have an important zero-emission section. In fact, Jeep wants to become a green SUV brand in the world, thus allowing the freedom to travel within the jungle or desert, in totally electric mode.
The engines are obviously electrified, and allow continuity of the line defined by Jeep, i.e. the pursuit of important objectives within a context linked to the environment and pollution.
These new electrified propulsion systems will allow Jeep and Stellantis to reduce their global carbon footprint by 50% by 2030. Eight years later, or by 2038, carbon emissions will be completely eliminated.
However, the characteristics on the road are not affected, as the powerful combustion engine and electric propulsion allow you to have a starting point in every single situation.
Just to give some numbers, we can say that the car manages to have a fording capacity of up to 76 cm at a maximum speed of 8 km per hour. The streams can therefore be easily crossed, and even some small rivers.
The suspensions are carefully designed with 5 anchor points, and thanks to a body-on-frame design, the car's structure has excellent on-road dynamics and advanced safety qualities.
The new Jeep Wrangler is also characterized by four underbody plates, which allow some fundamental components to be safeguarded. An example is the fuel tank, but also the oil pan of the automatic transmission.
However, it is a light car, as aluminum was used inside the doors, but also in the bonnet, wheel arches and windshield frame.
In terms of safety, the new Jeep Wrangler comes with 85 advanced safety features, active and passive, available as standard or on request. All cars will be equipped with side curtain airbags for the first and second rows, which are clearly in addition to the front and side airbags for the driver and front passenger.
The New Jeep is also equipped with external seat belts for the second row with pretensioners and load limiters. The list of advanced driver assistance systems is really very important, and is comparable to any "ordinary" car that we see passing along our roads.
Aesthetically, the front of the car has been slightly modified, with an updated look with black slits and neutral gray metallic frames. There will be a new antenna integrated into the front windscreen, which will replace the previous steel mast antenna. This eliminates the risk of getting stuck in brush or branches during some excursions.
The tires will be able to have diameters between 17 and 20 degrees with a renewal of the catalog in terms of design.
There are no limits to the possibility of choosing between the different configurations between the types of doors, but also tops and windshields. There will clearly be a choice between two available hard tops, or the exclusive Sky One Touch roof.
In terms of body color, we can choose from 10 colors, including Anvil (a new one), Earl, Firecracker Red, Granite Crystal, Silver Zynith, High Velocity, Hydro Blue, Sarge, Bright White and black.
Climbing aboard the car you are immediately greeted by a comfort that is certainly uncommon for SUVs characterized by such an important off-road declination.
The 12-inch screen is the largest and most advanced ever offered on a Wrangler, and integrates the award-winning fifth-generation Uconnect 5 infotainment system. There is clearly no lack of wireless support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
It will be possible to connect two mobile phones with Bluetooth mode at the same time. The navigator installed in the infotainment system is TomTom, with predictive search as well as realistic voice and real-time traffic updates.
An important new feature is the updating of the uConnect system maps with the simple press of a button.
In terms of propulsion, we have an excellent electrical sector that allows you to reach up to 51 km of driving in purely electric mode. Combining it with the endothermic component, defined by a 2000 cubic cm four-cylinder turbocharged engine and 8-speed automatic gearbox, it is possible to reach 380 horsepower and 637 NM of torque.
Obviously there is no lack of the possibility of having a car powered only by an internal combustion engine, again with a 2,000 cubic cm turbo four-cylinder structure (in this case the power is 272 horsepower with a torque of 400 NM).
No information has been released regarding prices, and we will have to wait until the first half of 2024 to be able to see this exceptional vehicle in person.
